This policy explains what data the Cargo Cove mobile game ("the game") and this website handle, why, and the choices you have. In short: we have no accounts and no servers of our own, your progress stays on your device, and the game uses Google services for ads, analytics, crash reports and remote settings.

Who we are

The game and this website are made by Burhan Cabiroğlu, an individual developer publishing as Potato Farm in Türkiye, who is the data controller. Contact: cargocove@burhancabiroglu.com.

What stays on your device

Your progress, coins, settings and your consent choices are saved only on your device. They are never sent to us. Uninstalling the app deletes them.

We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or precise location, and we do not sell personal data.

Ads: Google AdMob

The game shows ads through the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob). To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google receives your device's advertising ID (on iPhone only if you allow tracking), your IP address, device and app information such as model, system version and language, and how you interact with ads. Ads are personalized only where you have agreed to it.

Google uses this data as an independent controller under its own policies: How Google uses information from apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.

Consent: UMP and App Tracking Transparency

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the game shows Google's consent form (User Messaging Platform) on first launch, before any ad is requested. You can change your answer at any time in Settings > Privacy options.

On iPhone, the game asks for tracking permission (App Tracking Transparency) after a short explanation, before the first ad. If you decline, your advertising ID is not shared, you see non-personalized ads and the game plays exactly the same.

Ads, analytics, crash reporting and remote settings start only after the consent step has finished.

Analytics: Google Analytics for Firebase

To see which levels are too hard and where the game can be better, the game sends gameplay events to Google Analytics for Firebase: for example levels started, won or lost, boosters used, buildings built, quests completed and rewarded ads watched. These come with an app instance ID, device model, system and app version, language and an approximate country derived from your IP address. Collection of the advertising ID by Analytics is turned off.

Where the consent form is shown, Analytics follows your answer there (Google consent mode). If you do not agree to storing information on your device and measuring content performance, Analytics uses no app instance ID and sends only limited signals without identifiers, which Google uses for aggregate, modeled reports. Your answer is also passed on for Google's ad-related signals. If you change it in Settings > Privacy options, the game applies the new answer.

Crash reports: Firebase Crashlytics

If the game crashes, Firebase Crashlytics sends a crash report with the technical details of the error, the state of the device at that moment (model, system version, free memory, orientation) and a Crashlytics installation ID. We use it only to fix bugs.

Remote settings: Firebase Remote Config

The game downloads a few settings, such as how often ads may appear, from Firebase Remote Config. Firebase uses a Firebase installation ID for this. See Privacy and security in Firebase.

Reminders

If you allow notifications, the game schedules an occasional reminder on your device that your harbor is waiting. Reminders are created on the phone itself; no push token or other data is sent anywhere. You can turn them off in your phone's settings.

This website

This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts. While a tab is open, your browser keeps your scroll position in its session storage so the back button returns you to the same spot; it never leaves your browser. The site is hosted on Firebase Hosting (Google), which processes your IP address and request details to deliver the pages and keep them secure.

Your advertising ID

You can limit or reset your advertising ID at any time:

  • Android: Settings > Privacy > Ads (or Settings > Google > Ads), then delete or reset your advertising ID.
  • iPhone: Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking, then turn off tracking for Cargo Cove or for all apps.

Legal bases

Under the EU and UK GDPR and Türkiye's Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK), we rely on your consent for personalized ads and tracking and, where the consent form is shown, for analytics; and on our legitimate interest in running, securing and improving a free game for non-personalized ads, fraud prevention, crash reports and, elsewhere, analytics. You can withdraw consent at any time in the game's privacy options.

Google may process data outside your country, including in the United States, under its own safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

How long data is kept

  • Data on your device: until you delete the app or its data.
  • Analytics events: for the retention period set in our Firebase project, at most 14 months.
  • Crash reports: 90 days.
  • Ad data: according to Google's policies linked above.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, restrict or object to its use, ask for a copy in a portable format, and withdraw consent. Under Article 11 of the KVKK you may also learn whether your data is processed and for what purpose, know the third parties it is shared with, ask for correction or deletion, object to results of automated analysis, and claim damages for unlawful processing.

We do not hold data that identifies you, so the quickest way to act on these rights is often in your phone's settings (resetting the advertising ID) or by uninstalling the app. Otherwise write to cargocove@burhancabiroglu.com; we answer within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data protection authority, or in Türkiye to the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK).

Children

The game is made for a general audience aged 13 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has used the game and data about them was collected, contact us and we will help.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date.
